Wa Lolita
An exceptionally rare style spotting for you today... as zombies go, that is. This lady with the whimsical Watchmen-flavored balloon is wearing a subgenre of lolita sometimes known as wa lolita, or wa-loli for short. Wa lolita updates traditional Japanese clothing with elements of lolita style such as petticoats.

Pimp my Z-Ride
Caged and ready to rumble. Mojave Desert, 2011 |
I belong to an online zombie preparedness group which takes a few things very seriously:
1. The best weapons, armaments or means of dispatch of zombies in the event of a, well, Event;
2. The best and most defensible location in which to weather such an Event, and,
3. The best ride.
There are a great many arguments posted for every ideal "dream vehicle for the Zombie Apocalypse": bicycles are silent, motorcycles are fast, tanks are impervious, Bowler Wild Cats are agile, Marauders are unstoppable, etc... All blue skying aside, I would posit that the best argument for any given vehicle is that it is already in use, and therefore should be somewhat more practical, functional, relatively economical in terms of gas (or else it wouldn't be in use), and hopefully better maintained than the ten-ton bespoke monsters that serve as wish-fulfillment for preppers.
Here are a few shots of candidates for the ideal post-apocalyptic ride. All of these are actual vehicles that I have personally spotted in the wild. If you had to pick one, which would you have?
Bob's off-road cop car - Mojave, CA |
The welcome wagon at Wasteland Weekend 2011. |
Party car at WW2011. Looks like a late 60-early 70s era El Camino. Pros: cargo space. |
Don't even think about jacking these wheels... |
MFP Interceptor... the last of the red hot V8s. We can dream, right? |
Shannon Larratt's Zombie-ready ride. Toronto, 2011 |
Contol unit. Oopsie. Streets of TO, 2011. |
Rat buggy... not a lot of protection, but loaded for bear. |
A Knight XV by Conquest Vehicles, spotted in the wilds of Yorkville. Per Conquest, this is the world's most luxurious armored car. Buy Canadian! |
Even zombies respect a classic Cadillac. Toronto, 2010 |
As tempting as the Knight XV is, a vehicle that can clip walkers off at the knees is perfect for me. I'd love this baby forever. Oshawa, 2010. |

Another Zombie Tattoo
Since I'm branching off from straight up street fashion for the sake of content... have another zombie tattoo. This image of MC Chris as a zombie was tattooed by myself on Spott the Loonie a couple years back.
I'll be on the lookout for more zombie tattoos "in the wild" in coming months.

Dead Friends.
"After the year 2000, the only people who'll be safe to have as friends are dead people."
-Hunter S. Thompson, March 1998. From Kingdom of Fear.
Meet Spott The Loonie & his wife Amynal. I feel safe...

He'p me Zombie Jesus
Since zombie street fashion gets a bit slow this time of year, I've decided to branch out into a few related subjects that I have content for. Zombie tattoos appear on the new menu-- since tattooing and body modification has been near and dear to my heart (literally) since, oh, 1992. First off, here's a look at one of the finest tattoos I've ever had the pleasure to see done, first-hand.
This "Zombie Jesus" piece is by Adam Turk, who currently works out of Left Hand Black Tattoo in San Diego, CA (www.lhblk.com). The proud owner is Venus Silva. She asked Turk for a zombie jesus tattoo and this beauty is what he came up with. It was finished literally five minutes before it went on stage and won a "Best of Day" award at the Montreal Art Tattoo convention in 2008.

Gorygeous. Now that's a work of art. |

Little biter
Start em young, we always say. The same applies to good sense in dress. Messy eating habits aside, in this case pilot and co-pilot have clearly got it figured out.
